Getting you Familiarized with Voxed
Today we are going to get you started in Voxed. (Voxel Editor; Located in your Ace of Spades Folder) There is no buttons or real interface like Hammer has, and the camera controls are very funky; you'll get used to it.
There are some keys you'll need to keep in touch with when using Voxed. The Arrow Keys and F1. These will allow you to Navigate and get you to better understand the keys.
F1 Displays what keys you can use. This is a key you'll need to remember to use Voxed
The arrow keys allow you to move the camera in the world, and the mouse controls the camera's direction.
Let's try creating some nice hills. Press F1 and look at the keys. You may need some good eyes to read the small text, it will be updated soon. As you can see, (If you can see) It says to press Home to make a sphere. So look on the ground and press home. It will create hills in the flat world.
Oops! You made a mistake. How do you delete it? Lets open F1 again and see what we can do. It says to press End to delete whole spheres and delete to delete one Voxel. (Also pressing Insert will create one voxel) Knowing this you can make shelters to hold out in for CTF games. It will take time, but it works.
Now what if you want to just add models? Large or small? Well thats were Slab6 comes in. However thats Another tutorial. But after mastering that. You can insert these models by pressing U.
Now heres a couple of things to keep in mind: Be sure to mind your limits, because the map is only 512x512x64 voxels.
Keep the map ALIVE. Make it so the action is always there in the map. Make it fast paced and small if you have to.
Keep it at a somewhat balance in making the map. A good idea of this is in the Counter Strike Maps.
Make the map like what a war would look like. Not a giant bedroom.
Thats basically all you need to know for basics. Thanks for reading.
